Welcome
Edit

Added by AmyroseloveHi, welcome to Pokemon Adventures Manga Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the Blue page.
Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- Aly of the crooked eye (Talk) 12:51, January 26, 2012
Their names are fine.
Edit
The names of Blue Oak and Green are okay, actually. Yes, in Japan, the names are Green Okido and Blue, but this isn't so in the English translation. Seeing as the vast majority of the world called them Blue Oak and Green, I feel it would be best if their names remained the way they were. ScorpionTail 17:24, January 26, 2012 (UTC)
You are very welcome, my young apprentice. ScorpionTail 17:46, January 27, 2012 (UTC)
Hello!
Edit
Hey, I just wanted to drop by and thank you for all the great work you're doing! Sorry I wasn't around to answer your Green/Blue names question, schoolwork has been pretty heavy for me recently, and still is…

RGB Arc Chapters
Edit
Do you think you can help me out with those? ScorpionTail 22:33, February 5, 2012 (UTC)
Thank you very much, my good man. ScorpionTail 15:57, February 6, 2012 (UTC)
Do you mind doing Chapter 11 for me? Thank you. ScorpionTail 20:44, February 9, 2012 (UTC)
Of course, I don't mind. ScorpionTail 18:28, February 10, 2012 (UTC)
Can you help me with Chapters 21 and 22? Thank you. ScorpionTail 18:24, February 19, 2012 (UTC)
Re: I've got an idea!
Edit
Hey, that's a great idea! Is what I've done at Chapter 1 what you have in mind? Oh, and also feel free to make suggestions whenever you have ideas! Thank you! =D
Aly of the crooked eye 21:22, April 18, 2012 (UTC)
Oh yeah, I like that much better. To make an external link while in visual mode, highlight it and click the link button (the paper clip chain link thing), look below the bottom text box where there's a blue circle (labeled "To a wiki page") and click the other circle, "To an external link." To do it in source mode, [url Chapter X]

Re: How to make category pages
Edit
Go to the bottom of a page, where it lists the categories affiliated with the page as links. Click on the category you want to create a category page for. Then click "Add to this page" or "Create." If it asks you to name the page, leave in the Category: part but delete the underscores (_). (Example: Category:Minor_Character becomes Category:Minor Characters)
A second way to do it is to go up to the URL http://pokemonadventuresmanga.wikia.com/wiki/ and then add Category: and then the category you want to edit, with underscores instead of spaces, then click "Add to this page" or "Create." (Example: http://pokemonadventuresmanga.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Minor_Character)
The collection of pages in the category come automatically, so don't worry about not seeing them on the editing screen.
No problem! =)

Re: Welcome
Edit
Well, actually, it leaves a welcome message automatically to new contributers. I always feel a little awkward about it because I often want to leave a personalized welcome, but I think it might be weird to leave one after they already received an (automatic) one from me.
Oh man, sometimes my account logs itself off, and I never notice. One time I got all excited to see in the "recent activities" that a wikia contributor had made several edits—until I realized it was me, logged off. Whoops…
Aly of the crooked eye 01:43, May 12, 2012 (UTC)
Re: YAY! Over 600 pages!
Edit
It's definitely worth celebrating! We never did anything after completing the chapter summaries for the RGB Arc, either, so maybe we should celebrate both!
Aly of the crooked eye 01:08, May 25, 2012 (UTC)
Well, I guess we could draw something, or we could make banners (images from the manga spliced together)… I'm not really sure. Do you have any ideas?
Aly of the crooked eye 12:21, May 25, 2012 (UTC)
Oh wow, that would be totally awesome!! I'm not really any good with drawing, but if you'd like, I could color in your drawings with photoshop? (I only know the basics, though, but I do like to do it.) I think I'll also make a banner!
Aly of the crooked eye 14:46, May 26, 2012 (UTC)
Oh, same here—I got lucky last year and had almost nothing at the home stretch of the school year, but this year all of my teachers are trying to squeeze something else in… So definitely, take your time!
Aly of the crooked eye 18:45, May 26, 2012 (UTC)
Oh wow!! Seeing that will make my day! =D
Aly of the crooked eye 19:04, May 27, 2012 (UTC)
That sounds great! Thank you so much for telling me, that's the only piece of good news I've had all day. I've got the chemistry SAT tomorrow…completely unprepared for it…not to mention my math and chemistry finals next week… I'll be done with school on Wednesday, so expect me to upload a banner about then. I think it's really coming along so far =)
Aly of the crooked eye 20:32, June 1, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! Good luck to you too.
Aly of the crooked eye 17:00, June 2, 2012 (UTC)
Ouch, sounds tough! Best of luck!
Aly of the crooked eye 18:48, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
Go ahead and upload it in the "banners" section of the front page :)
Aly of the crooked eye 18:32, June 6, 2012 (UTC)
Thank you!! I was totally lost over what to do, but then I saw that pic in the manga and thought, maybe… I'm glad it worked out! I hope you ace biology! I'm really looking forward to seeing your picture =D
Aly of the crooked eye 15:01, June 7, 2012 (UTC)
Oh wow, that's great!! Congratulations on your biology test, I wish I was that smart! You sound like a great brother; when I broke my wrist, my brother gave me suspicious looks whenever I asked him for anything >.< I hope your brother heals smoothly!
That's great news!
Aly of the crooked eye 17:54, June 9, 2012 (UTC)
Holy crap, that's awesome!! My jaw literally dropped when I saw that! The only problem I see with it is that there might not be enough room for information on the Pokémon…
Aly of the crooked eye 15:23, June 10, 2012 (UTC)
Oh, absolutely! Maybe if it was possible for the information section to be a scroll box? That would give enough room. Thank you, that was a great idea!
Aly of the crooked eye 17:57, June 10, 2012 (UTC)
That's amazing! =D We should definitely do that everybody's Pokémon pages!
Aly of the crooked eye 18:27, June 10, 2012 (UTC)
Sounds great :) Good luck!
Aly of the crooked eye 15:36, June 18, 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good :) And don't worry, I've hardly been an avid contributor lately either (whoops)
Aly of the crooked eye 21:36, June 27, 2012 (UTC)
Oh wow, great job!! I hope you don't mind, but after wrestling with Red's HTML, I took the liberty of changing it—moving it to the right and making it narrower. As for the info in it, I'm not sure we need the specific boxes for Red and Reddo, as his name in both languages is at the top of the box. I'm also unclear about the "Region" section's meaning, as you already put in that his hometown is Pallet. I think it would also be good to include his birthday (August 8) and blood type (O), and maybe even his hair/eye color?
On a different note, I've been thinking about it, and I think that making tables for the gym leader's Pokémon pages might not be worth it. As they are now, the information is nicely spread out and easily readable, and making tables for all of them would be a lot of work. Just adding character boxes for the humans is going to be a lot of work. I hope you're ready for it, and I'd be happy to help!
Aly of the crooked eye 19:14, June 28, 2012 (UTC)
Character Boxes
Edit
I took several hours today to try to make your character table into a template to make things easier. (It didn't completely work, as I'm no good with HTML.) See the template here and the application of it here. I think making the character table into a template is a good idea because it's simpler to implement and if we want to change something about it, we don't have to go into every character's page and change it individually: we can just change the template! So, what do you think? I can't figure out how to translate the really neat, concise lines in the table into the template, so I'm missing them…
Another problem is color—because it's a template, everybody using the template will have the same colors. But we can have different template with different colors…though we'd probably want to avoid having a lot of character templates. What do you think about all this? We could have colors for the 17 types, depending on what type the character specializes in, and maybe gray for characters who don't have Pokémon, and maybe something for non-protagonist trainers who don't specialize. Or, we could go with something that has a color scheme for each region, so the color depends on where the character's from. It could also be cool to have a scheme for antagonists, like for a Team Rocket member, to have red text on black. As you can see, I'm very undecided here…
Also, as for the gym leader Pokémon, we can wait till we're done with the general character tables and then make a more informed decision about whether we want tables for them.
Aly of the crooked eye 01:04, June 30, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! :) I initially tried to create it from scratch with Scarletwind's help, but then I discovered that the wiki comes with a basic infobox template (visible to the right, under templates). So then I used that HTML and managed to alter it to fit characters by changing row names and stuff. Scarletwind pointed me to a good explanation of templates here.
It would be really great if there was some way for us to determine the color through HTML without needing to resort to separate templates for different colors; I suspect we can do it through the "parameters" discussed in the help page above, but I don't really understand it… Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it!
Aly of the crooked eye 15:17, June 30, 2012 (UTC)
Oh sure, go ahead! I don't mind at all. The annoying thing about the template is that you (or at least, I did) have to publish it pretty much after every change to see if it has any effect…
Aly of the crooked eye 17:52, July 1, 2012 (UTC)
First off, I want to let you know that I've gained a tremendous amount of respect for you; you presented your concerns to me in a way that was mature and courteous, and, as a shy person by nature, I'm envious of your eloquence and confidence. You're spot-on when you call yourself honest and straightforward.
I took today to give the tables/templates dilemma its due consideration. To put it more concretely, I went on a research and learning rampage, hence my absence on the wiki. And guess what: it paid off! I've figured out a way to make your table into a template, which I think is near perfect because I preferred your table aesthetically, but found the template more practical. This should make adding character tables to each character's page easier—templates are easy to use, if not create, which is part of what makes them practical. I'll make a blog post explaining this.
I took a look at the list of last year's top wikis and found that all of the wikis I checked (given that they had characters) used templates for their character boxes, which under scrutiny look to me like they could have been originally based off of tables. I also found the February 2012 Wikia webinar on templates and found it to be pretty useful (and it confirmed that the main template, the infobox whose coding I based the character template off of, is in fact a kind of table).
Because changing a template changes every character's page without having to individually change the dozens of them, using a template will give our wiki the opportunity to develop and advance without being bogged down in the menial work.
Check out Emerald's page, where I put the new table/template (called BoxCharacter, though please note that, by the nature of templates, if I'd changed the old template CharacterBox, Ruby's and Sapphire's pages would change too without me editing them, but I figured I'd leave them like that for comparison for now).
As for feeling lost, don't worry! There's tons of work to be done, not the least of which adding these table templates to all of our characters' pages! If you don't feel like doing that, then you can design a preliminary table for people's Pokémon pages, find pics for pages, write summaries for any of the arcs, or whatever you feel needs doing. Trust your judgement :)
Any thoughts or opinions you have, feel free to share them!
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 05:39, July 8, 2012 (UTC)
On the matter of colors, I've set up a blog post to discuss them. As always, your opinion is invaluable, and you always have the best ideas, so please offer all the suggestions and comments you can think of =D
I like your ideas about the Pokémon table—both the colors and contents. I don't know if we should put moves in it, though, because some Pokémon know a lot of moves so it could get kind of long.
What about for gym leader's Pokémon? Should we even make a table for them?
I guess the amount of work I put into it was proportional to the amount of thought I could tell you put into your message.

Re: Great Job!
Edit
Thanks! Yeah, that is frustrating… When do you think your computer'll be fixed?
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 02:04, July 18, 2012 (UTC)
Sorry about that virus (same thing happened to me a couple years back…), but having you back in editing capacity in the wiki is great news!!
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 14:41, July 19, 2012 (UTC)
Nope, there isn't on yet, so please go ahead and give it a try!
Oh, also, before I forget—I'm going on a few days of vacation starting tomorrow, so I'm not sure if I'll have any sort of internet access.
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 16:52, July 19, 2012 (UTC)
Well, for a Pokémon template, you should probably have sections for a nickname, species, trainer, place caught at, and last known level… Maybe the nickname and species should be like the name and Japanese name for the human characters?
I'm planning on getting back on Wednesday the 25th, but hopefully I'll have some internet access while I'm away. Thanks! =D
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 17:12, July 19, 2012 (UTC)
Re: Great News!
Edit
That looks great!! Maybe in the species box it should be something like Cyndaquil→Quilava→Typhlosion and Aipom→Ambipom, to indicate their evolutions? (You can get the → by going to a wiki page, such as Black's, and copying it.) Oh, I forgot, there should probably be sections for Ability and Nature.
I'll probably have internet access every day except maybe for Monday and Tuesday =)
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 03:31, July 21, 2012 (UTC)
Good catch on the Aibo/Ataro mixup, I've fixed that now =) What sections are you intending to put for the gym leaders'/elite four's/champion's Pokémon?
Also, do you think it would be a good idea to have a box for chapter summaries? Or a box for locations?
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 20:52, July 21, 2012 (UTC)
Re: Pokémon Box
Edit
Whoops, sorry! I forgot to mention it. I've managed to change the CharacterBox and PokémonBox so that if you leave a field blank, rather than putting the variable name there, it just won't include the field. The CharacterBox/PokémonBox still has all the old fields, now it's just that if you don't fill a field out, it won't be included, so it's nicer than having a bunch of "Unknown"s :)
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 22:40, July 23, 2012 (UTC)
Weird, I wonder why that happened… Anyway, I went and filled out the fields again, and now it's working fine. Check out Gigi; we don't know her nature, ability, level, etc, so those fields I left empty, so they don't show.
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 14:56, July 24, 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure what vertical lines you're referring to; the design of the box remains the same… Unfortunately, having all those "Unknown"s isn't suitable for some Pokémon we know little about, such as Absol, and changing it does not affect the boxes of Pokémon we do know about, such as Saur. Also, having a long column of "Unknown"s is both space-consuming and time-consuming for the reader to look through. And it seems sort of sloppy… So I think we should keep it this way.
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 21:05, July 25, 2012 (UTC)
Alright then. Thanks!
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 15:53, July 26, 2012 (UTC)
Family is in the CharacterBox, and I've added it to the PokémonBox too. It'll be useful for Gold's Pichu :)
My vacation was good; I wish it hadn't finished, especially since now we're repainting our house, which is a ton of work —.—

Re: Another idea!
Edit
Hey, don't worry about it, both are mistakes anybody could have made. For example, I noticed I forgot to make a new section to reply to you in last time… *sheepish laughter*
Yeah, it is pretty tough…we're trying to get it all done before we get our floors refurnished, so we've been working hours every day. Thankfully, we've nearly finished =)
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 00:26, July 31, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks!! Yeah, I've been meaning to do something about it for ages, but only just got around to actually doing it. I'm participating in the wikia CSS webinar later today, so I'm hoping I'll learn something to make it even better =)

Re: Non-manga pictures
Edit
Thanks for contacting me—don't ever be reluctant to tell me your opinion on some matter. Scarletwind and I discussed Patti97, and we've agreed that it's reasonable to block them (for two weeks, and if they persist, permanently) if they upload another non-manga image to an article page.

Re: What's up?
Edit
Hey, nice to hear from you :)
I think the 15th anniversary of the publication of Volume 1 was August 8 (not so coincidentally Red's birthday). I think you can consider a BW2 manga confirmed; I haven't read the chapter myself, but Bulbapedia reports that Hugh appears as a child during the BW Arc. I can't wait to read that chapter!
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 01:57, September 27, 2012 (UTC)
Hey, that's a great idea! In fact, we can move the suggestion place for the featured character/chapter/location to the archives I've been keeping, as comments.
And of course you can add your drawing! I decided to include all types of artwork on the main page, and that definitely includes your lovely pic of Green =)
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 03:55, October 12, 2012 (UTC)
Great! Just make sure they're good quality =D
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 12:16, October 15, 2012 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay, I've had an intense week fo school. Yeah, I'd say that's pretty good quality considering it's the RGB Arc. Keep in mind that there are really good quality pics of the later arcs, so just check around when you're changing arcs to make sure you've got the best quality pics.
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 22:01, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
Great to see you around again :) This is just speculation, but my gut says that despite people in the BW2 games referring to the protagonist of the originals, we're not going to get new protagonists, just Black and White dressed up in new clothes. (I'm sure White will be working with PokéStar Studio.) I hope we won't have to wait too long to find out.
Thanks for noticing the front page change! I thought it could be a fun thing to do! How would you rate the current ones? Too easy? Too hard? Any suggestions?
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 21:49, November 13, 2012 (UTC)
Hi! Thanks for checking in =) Your projects both look really awesome, my friend's been trying to convince me to do a nuzlocke with her for ages but we've never gotten around to it. If you're enjoying it so much then maybe we should make time for one! Anyway, things on the wiki have been pretty slow, but the chapters of Volume 42 are in the process of being translated so we've got some more to look forward to! Oh, and Volume 43 is scheduled to come out on January 25 (though it'll be some time before it makes it to the internet in English).
Aly of the crooked eye (talk) 22:38, December 4, 2012 (UTC)
Hey, sorry for the delay—I thought I'd replied to this days ago, but I guess I never hit publish >.< Maybe this winter break (in two weeks…) I'll start a nuzlocke run of my own. Yeah, I'd love the links to your comics—I love how funny they are. Unfortunately, I'm not a Yu-gi-oh fan, so I haven't read your fanfic, but I'm a huge fan of fanfiction in general (though I've never actually managed to write anything myself, heheh…)
DPPt is entirely independent of Emerald, except that Sird is featured…

Edit
Hi! May 22 is our wiki's second anniversary, and I thought it would be cool for each of us to do something to celebrate if we have time! Check out the awesome PokéSpe video that Akirei21 made and see the blog post for ideas of what you could do if you want =D

As for a poll, you go into source mode and do a <poll> tag. Question on the first line, choices on new lines after that, and then close with </poll>. See the poll archive for examples.
